Stephen update

Good morning my wonderful friends, Stephen is almost definitely coming home next Wednesday the 16th :o)
His occupational therapist came out to inspect his new bedroom for suitability yesterday and gave it a big thumbs up. She also measured up for a second stair rail so he has one each side, one for going up and one for going down, and for grab rails each side of the front door, and approved a chair for him so it all rests now with his progression.
I was in the gym yesterday where Stephen and others were having a little competition trying to get a basketball into the net and was amazed at his progress. He can now get up off the bed himself without holding on to anything, but then he needs to have a tripod stick to walk. His walking is getting stronger every day, they just have someone walking behind him in case he falls but they don't need to help him now.
They don't need to send a hospital bed home with him so I have now bought him a new bed which will be delivered the day before he comes home.
Today I am having a day off and spending it with my cousin and we will be going out for a pub lunch, then I will spend the evening with my daughter Susan. It is her first day back at work today.
I would like to say a very big THANK YOU to all of you for your support and prayers, from Stephen and from me :o)

Biggest milestone yet...

...Stephen actually lifted his righ foot off the bed while I was there yesterday,  only seven days after his stroke. We were both absolutely ecstatic. He was actually laughing, albeit silently. I am sure that all of your prayers are working, please keep them coming for him!
In the meantime, what with visiting him daily and then going to work, and trying to decorate his bedroom for when he comes home, I'm afraid that commenting is taking a back seat, but I would like to say what a wonderful selection of cards you have all posted while I have been awol. I will be back as soon as I am able.
Love to you all :o)

Stephen is improving daily

Good morning everyone, I hope all is well in your world, or that it soon will be...hugs
When Stephen is further along the road to recovery then I may be able to start blogging again. For obvious reasons I haven't set foot in my craftroom this week!
I am so happy to report that already Stephen is eating without help. The food is all mushy but yesterday he was spooning it into his mouth like he was starving :o) He still can't talk but he unsderstands the written word so we are writing things down for him. His right side is still paralysed but he is using his left very well.
I can't visit him today but daughter Susan is taking in a tablet with photographs of his fishing team to try stimulating his brain.
I have bought him a portable DVD player and will be taking it in tomorrow along with his favourite trilogy, Lord of the Rings, so he can watch it for the 210th time :o)
Love to you all
