OCC challenge - sentiments

Here is my offering for the OCC challenge - sentiments over at http://ourcreativecorner6.blogspot.com/2009/05/occ-challenge-sentiments.html

I was needing a wedding/anniversary card in my box so decided to make it for the challenge, I love this sentiment from Penny Black.
I had just 1 sheet of this lovely brocade type card left so I need to visit the PMS at Mansfield again soon :o)
I heat embossed the sentiment with silver embossing powder and mounted it onto silver holographic card which I cut with my Woodware trimmer and scalloped blade.
The flower is made up from pearlised punched images using an assortment of punches with a liquid pearl centre. The scroll is also holographic card.

Simon Says challenge - sketch

This is my entry for the Simon Says - sketch challenge over at http://simonsaysstampschallenge.blogspot.com/

I think I just about made it in time by the skin of my teeth (where does that saying come from?) This really iwas an eleventh hour effort so I hope it looks okay :o)
I know I stamped the pansy image at one of my friend's houses, but I can't remember where or when and who made the stamp. Perhaps someone will be able to enlighten me! I inked the edge of the image then "distressed" it with my scissors but it doesn't really show upwell on here.
It looks crooked but that is because it would lay flat to have it's piccy taken :o)
Recipe:
My usual hammered white BC from PMS covered with
K&Co DP
HOTP DP
Unknown pansy stamp
Hero arts sentiment stamp (part of)
PB scroll stamp
Flowers from my stash
Multishaper punch
SU oval punches
Dovecraft chalk
Caran D'Ache watercolour pencils

I have a lovely award

I am very naughty! I was given this great award by the ever lovely Chrissie over at http://simply-one-of-a-kind.blogspot.com/
several days ago. I have not had the opportunity to follow the rules since I received it so waited until now.
The rules are that I must:
Nominate 5 to 10 blogs you feel show great attitude and gratitude.-
Link to your nominees within your blog post.
Comment on their blogs to let them know they've received the award.-
Link back to the person who gave you the award to show your appreciation.
I still have to figure out how to choose just 5 to 10 from the many lovely friends I have made on here so will be back to enter them later.
Jackie xx
Well I'm back and a hard decision it has been. After much deliberation and soul searching I have decided to pass on this award to 5 friends, some of whom I know personally and others through blogging, you will know which you are :o)
I have chosen these 5 for various reasons, but mainly because they give me so much encouragement.
Viv deserves a medal at the moment for the stress she is undergoing getting her 90 year old Mother moved and comfortably settled into her new home and all this just weeks after having her hubby was rushed into hospital and suffering her own physical pain with a trapped nerve.
Pam also deserves a special mention because she has to suffer so much pain but she is always cheerful and laughing with us even when the hurting is unbearable.
Lesley, Lynne and Cass, you are always there to leave encouraging comments on my blog every time I post anything new.
I would also like to say another big thank you to Chrissie for giving me this award which I will treasure, Chrissie you're a star.
I do hope I haven't put you all to sleep, you can wake up now, I have finished :o)

Make an old lady very happy

I made this for Viv's Mum who, at 90 years old, has just moved into a new home. If you haven't seen Viv's appeal nip over and have a look at
I cut the card out on the Cricut using the Zooballoo cart. The tree is from the same cart. I painted the roof and the tree with pearlescent watercolours, added a few gems and decoupaged Harvey, Viv's dog, from a photograph I took of hime last year. Dot just adores Harvey.
Did the greeting in Word, Annie font and punched out using SU punches.
Finished off with HOTP paper inside and another sentiment :o)

Cuttlebug be inspired-butterflies and hearts #32

Another very simple card.
I cut the silver heart on the Cricut then cuttlebugged it with the D'vine Swirls folder. Large butterfly is my own photograph and the small ones along with the hearts are stamped with Dovecraft stamps. Small butterflies are highlighed with Sakura Stardust pens and the card is lightly chalked to relieve the stark white.

Made this just for fun...

...and to play with my brand new SAS stamps. It's never going to be great but it was so much fun making it :o)

I used 9 stamps for this creation and coloured them with watercolour pencils. Some of them are stuck with DS tape but the rest are raised with foam pads. Background is chalked. I made a mess of the word cupcake on the sentiment so had to write it in, not very successfully :o( Still, if I give it to a young child he/she won't notice that :o)
Recipe:
SAS stamps
Art Impressions grass tuft stamp
Caran D'Ache watercolour pencils
Sakura Stardust pens for highlights

It's playtime...

I spent yesterday at my daughter's helping her to scrape tiles from the bathroom walls prior to having it all redone and a new shower fitted so no crafting at all, never even saw the inside of the craftroom :o(
No cards today either, my lovely new SAS cupcake stamp sets have arrived from the US so I am going to play before I go to work this afternoon. All being well I may be able to show you something tomorrow :o)

Simon Says challenge - One for the boys

This is my entry for the Simon Says One for the boys challenge over at http://simonsaysstampschallenge.blogspot.com/2009/05/simon-says-one-for-boys.html

Again, I borrowed the stamp for this one but forgot to look where it was from (slap my wrist). I think it is a Sugar Nellie! Coloured with watercolour pencils, chalked background then matted onto my favourite Bazzill :o) Speech bubble is a SAS stamp, sentiment and fishing rod are See Dee stamps and the 2 little fishes are from a Daisy and Dandelion set so it's a good mixture :o)

Fantastic crafting day...

... at our very good friend Viv's in Macclesfield :o) The food was to die for and the company was of the very best. Who could ask for more? :o)
I finally managed to make some cards so here are the first two. I made these for the box.
I borrowed a Little Claire stamp from one of the girls for this one, watercoloured and then Stickles on the petal edges. I did stamp a sentiment on the left side but it didn't show up very well on the Bazzill card, so had to cover it up with a brayered page I just happened to have with me :o) Added a bit of satin ribbon, will add sentiment when and if needed.

This one has a K&Co backing, stamped image is from Magenta and I coloured it with Sakura Stardust pens, matted onto textured silver card. I borrowed the sentiment stamp from one of the girls and I forgot to check where it was from!
Recipe:
Bazzill CS
K&Co DP
Magenta stamp
Little Claire stamp
Sentiment stamp?? (May be Stampendous)
Caran D'Ache watercolour pencils
Martha Stewart edge punch
Fiskars edge punch

I never did manage it!

I had hoped to get at least a couple of cards on here last night but unfortunately I didn't get to make any, too much clearing out to do, two trips to the tip and still stuff to sort out! I am going to join some of my crafty friends on Sunday for a whole day of crafting so I may finally get some challenges made.
I am so sorry if I have not had time to visit you blogs this week, hopefully I will catch up at least a bit next week :o)

No cards this morning...

...have to go to the tip instead :o(
I have spent the last hour getting loads of stuff by the door to take it down to the tip, decided I really MUST declutter. Hopefully, if I get done tis morning I can spend the afternoon crafting :o) I finally bought myself a new HD ready TV complete with Freeview and DVD player so only ONE plug and wire no instead if umpteen! Thus is what prompted yet another clearout :o)
Hopefully I will be back later with a card or two :o)

Wild and wet in North Derbyshire

We all moan about the rain but WOW did it bucket down yesterday! It didn't stop us enjoying our day out in Wildest Derbyshire yesterday :o)

The top photograph is my daughter planted there just to give perspective when looking out from Curbar Edge. The scenery from up there is just magnificent.
Next one down shows clearly that while we think we have too much rain, there isn't a full quota in the Derwent dams!
I just had to include the ducklings, aren't they so sweet. It was fascinating sitting in the car eating our hot dogs and watching these cute little balls of fluff running around in the pouring rain :o)
Last but not least is the magnificent Derwent Dam where the legendary Dambusters practiced dropping the bouncing bombs in WW2

Two cards I made last night...

... at our Derby Dabblers craft club.

The theme for the evening was Pink & Brown and if possible, a different shape. I had no idea what I was going to do but theses are what I came up with. I borrowed one of the other member's Little Clare stamp and used Crayola pens and Sansodor to colour the images. I had previously cut the octagon template on the Cricut. The pink & brown theme was covered in my first card so I chose to play with orange & brown for my second one :o)
