Sorry, no cards for a while

Good morning you lovely Bloggers.
I am just letting you know that I won't be around for a while, I am off to Somerset with some of my lovely crafting friends for a week WOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO :o)
I have to stock the 'fridge and freezer with ready meals for my son, then I'm free!
Not going until Monday morning but I am at work this afternoon and tomorrow I have to do my packing before going off with a non crafting friend to Mackworth Church Harvest Festival and there will be a cream tea with my name on it. What a start to my holiday :o)
See you all when I get back :o)

Peachy Keen challenge 12

This week over at Peachy Keen, it had to be an ornament. We could use anything as long as it included something gold, an image and a hanging device, so here is my effort, I think it fits the bill :o) Why don't you have a look at http://peachykeenstampschallenge.blogspot.com/2009/09/peachy-keen-stamps-challenge-12.html
and have a go. It's not something I would have made without the challenge but I am fairly pleased with it and may even make some more :o)
Very simple to make. I cut the shape on the Cricut - sorry, forgot to check which cart! - then drew round it on the back of this gorgeous MME glittercardcard. Stamped the little Santa, coloured him with Sakura Stardust to give a glittery effect although it doesn't show up well here, then punched out and lightly chalked the background and inked the edges. He is raised with silicone glue. The gold is the cord for hanging :o)
Recipe;
Cricut
Whispers stamp from a set
MME glittercard
SU punch
Red Versafine inkpad
Sakura Stardust pens
Dovecraft eyelet
Gold cord from stash
My, for a simple little hanging there's an awfully big list of ingredients :o)

I've got it back...

...my little car is home and rarin' to go. As luck would have it, I have been ill all weekend with a bit of a temperature and lots of coughin' & sneezin' so it wasn't so bad that it was off the road, but by last night I was really champing at the bit. My daughter took me into town this morning because I was clinbing the walls and when we got back I stayed at her house for a cuppa and a huge piece of wonderful lemon cheesecake when her phone rang, my card was on my drive waiting for me to arrive and get in it and go, and I did :o)
Luckily it wasn't the gear box so the repair and the service I had already booked it in for came to less than I thought, so I went out and bought a cardigan for my holidays next week :o)

Oh woe is me.....

I went to Georges Tradition in Long Eaton for my tea after work. On the way back, around 5pm, terrible grinding as I went to turn left and then lost my gears :o( Well I was not amused, I am due to drive down to Somerset a week on Monday for a few days with my crafting pals and I thought that my holiday money would be gone for a new gearbox or some such thing. Anyway, I sat reading for an hour until my breakdown service arrived. He quickly had a look and told me it wasn't the gear box, it was an outer CV joint that had broken up so it will ONLY be about £100 instead of the dreaded £500 or so PHEW! Don't think my garage works Saturday morning so may have to wait until Monday now :o(
On a positive note, at least it's happened now and not while I am on the motorway next week!
I will let you know how it goes.

Simon Says - Oriental

Phew! I think I made it in the nick of time. This is my entry for the Simon Says - Oriental challenge over at http://simonsaysstampschallenge.blogspot.com/2009/09/simon-saysoriental.html
I am gulilty of not joining in the SS challenges lately. Due to time comstraints I have to alternate the challenges where I can. At the moment I am rushing as I have to go to band practice tonight and haven't had my tea yet!
This is my one and only Oriental stamp and I had a battle to find it. Yes I know I didn't need to use a stamp, I could use the relevant colours, but I thought that as I had got one I may as well use it :o)
I tried to distress the main image but I am not very good at it, haven't had enough practice! I stamped three times so there are three layers although it's difficult to tell here. I coloured with my Copics and highlighted the bloom with Sakura Stardust pen :o)
Recipe;
BC is Bazzill
Stamp is from Hampton Arts
Copics
Sakura Stardust pen
Black pearlised card for mat
Ribbon and brads from stash

For my penpal...

...in California. I suddeny realised at the weekend that it was my penpal's 50th anniversary soon so had to design and make this in a hurry. Unfortunately I had to wait until Monday to post it leaving only 4 days until the event! Hopefully it is better late than never :o)
The roses are from a photograph my lovely friend Pat took and I used them to create the topper and DP. I matted the topper onto gold mirri card and added the tiny bow so it wasn't too heavy to post to the US. I forgot to photograph the inside but it compliments the front :o)

September freebies

Good morning Bloggers. It's still dark so I don't know yet what it's like out there but it promises to be nice and dry and just warm enough for me, I'm afraid that although I love the sun I don't like heat so I should be comfortable today :o)
Anyway, I digress.
This is a sample of our lovely new freebies for this month which can be found over at www.jandppictures.co.uk If you love carnations then you will love these papers and toppers. Why don't you hop on over there and download them and then show us what you create. You may sell what you make with them but please acknowledge where you got them from and don't claim them as your own :o)
Happy crafting, Jackie xx

Mercy's Tuesday sketch challenge #38

This is the first time I have entered Mercy's Tuesday sketch challenge over at http://lordhavemercy-mercykerin.blogspot.com/2009/09/mercys-tuesday-sketch-challenge-38.html
This is a 7x5 card, I am fast becoming a fan of this size
I had stamped this image at a friend's house and thought it would be just right as Autumn is fast approaching. I knew we had lots of DPs on our CDs so I had a look through them and printed out these 3. These can be found over at www.jandppictures.co.uk I don't think I've ever used 3 different DPs on one card. :o) I added a flower, ribbon and brad to finish off.
Recipe;
BC is hammered white from PMS
DPs from J&P Pictures
Unkown stamp
Copics
Ribbon and brad from stash

OMG three posts in one morning

I have been in the cardmaking wilderness for more than a week now and suddenly my mojo came home while I was at my friend Sandra's yesterday WhoooHooo :o)
This one is a sample card for our gallery over at http://www.jandppictures.co.uk/ made using DP and topper from our Poinsettia craft packs which is soon to be released :o) I did use an unkown stamp from one of Sandra's clear Christmas sets for the side :o) The poinsettia is decoupages although it doesn't seem to show much in the photograph!
I got the Poinsettia legend from someone on DC a couple of Christmasses ago, sorry I cannot remember who.
Oh WOW! All of a sudden my visitors have jumped from 55oo odd to more than 11000 overnight, methinks there's a gremlin somewhere but it looks good doesn't it :o)

Fantastic Day

I even managed to make 3 cards which I will put on when I have taken their piccies :o)
We never made it to PDA, will have to go next week. Instead we went to Monk's Den in Ashby, I had never been there so it made a change. I did manage not to go over my budget and even had 3p change, I promise not to spend it all at once :o)
I will be back in the morning with my cards :o)

Good morning everyone

Sorry, no cards again, but all the heating/water work is now complete so hopefully I will be able to get back to cardmaking. I have a couple of challenges I want to get done.
I am off to my friend Sandra's for a crafting day today (with a trip to PDA thrown in too) so I am hoping that I can get myself back into cardmaking mode! It seems so long since I made any that I hope I have forgotten how!
I hope you all have a wonderful day :o)

Lovely award..

...from the lovely Janette over at http://little-boscraftyplace.blogspot.com/ Thank you so much for thinking of me Janette :o) I have been very naughty and held on to it for a week or more for two reasons. Firstly I have had great difficulty in thinking of things to say about me that I haven't said before, and secondly I have been agonising over trying to choose seven bloggers over others to pass it on to. I am sorry, I cannot choose because all my blogging friends are wonderful people so I am offering it to all my followers who regularly visit my blog :o)
Here are 7 things about me that you may or may not find interesting :o)
1) I love being with my family
2) I love driving, especially in North Derbyshire
3) I love designing DPs from my own photographs
4) Autumn is my favourite time of year
5) I wear glasses
6) I love the sun but I do not like hot weather
7) I have been married and divorced twice
There, I told you it may not be interesting :o)

Good morning Bloggers

I am so sorry that I have been a bad blogger! Due to time constraints at the moment I haven't made any cards this week and I have been preparing the rooms ready for the heating engineers disrupting me greatly to change the boiler etc. What an upheaval, I will be so glad when it's over and I can get back to normal. I am still managing to get round some blogs and will continue to do so. Until the upheaval is over though, I won't be on my own blog much :o(
I did manage to ghet some stamping and colouring done at our Derby Dabblers club last night so hopefully that will give me a head start on a few cards :o)

Two cards

Good morning everyone. I think I can say good because the sun is trying very hard to show :o)
This is one I made just because I wanted to use this stamp from my Craft UK set. I have already used the other image on my Peachy Keen challenge #10 and I loved it so much I needed to see this one made up too :o)Snow/beard etc are white acrylic paint sprinkled with Glamour Dust. Used my beloved Copics to colour. Punched the snowflake with Dovecraft punch then dabbed it with versamark and dipped in Glamour Dust :o)
No Colouring on this one. My own black swan photograph which I played around with. Pink HOTP DP stamped and heat embossed with gold. Made for my very good friend Di's Ruby wedding anniversary.
If you've never seen Di's work, pop over and have a look at http://acraftynutter.blogspot.com/ you won't be disappointed :o)
