Cards for Men challenge 7

This is my entry for CFM #7 over at
The theme this time is 'Humour' so I hope this can be considered humorous :o)
I took this photograph a few weeks ago at Twycross Zoo.
Sentiment created in MS Word using Feltpoint font, DP from J&P Pictures Animals CD1, base card and mats are good old faithful Bazzill, brads from stash :o)

Another one with Martha Stewart

What was that? Did I hear someone say I am addicted to MS? :o)
Those flowers, leaves and buterflies are a wonderful way to use up scraps.
I did the leaves with a McGill punch at a friend's house but I am waiting for Postie to deliver one for me any day now :o)
I always enjoy making cards but this one felt special :o)

New toys

Good morning bloggers, I've been playing with some of my new toys :o)
For the pink one I used my Martha Stewart Happy Birthday and doily lace edge punches
For this one I used my Xcut pop up butterfly punch

For the rest I used more new MS punches. I still have a couple more up my sleeve that I haven't used yet but unfortunately I have to got to work this afternoon so methinks I had better get showered and dressed :o)

New SU stamp set

Good Sunday morning Bloggers :o)
I made this card for a very dear friend who will need lots of gentle hugs right now.
I used my lovely new SU stamp set.
I only have a few Marvey's so I used the sepia and turquoise which I think seem to work well together. Luckily I had some turquoise Bazzill and some brown card in my stash :o)

A few made in the week

I've been playing with Martha Stewart again, I can't get enough of her punches and now my friend has been to the NEC and took my wish list and money so I have lots more of them to play with :o)
These first two cards were created using papers designed for the current CD that Pat and I are working on.

This one I created just to have a play so it goes into the box. It's all in white and silver but it looks more grey here! :o)

Winter Wonderland-aperture card

This is my entry for the aperture card challenge over at http://christmasblogchallenge.blogspot.com/2010/03/aperture-card-challenge.html

I cut and folded hammered white base card then brayered it roughly with a Brilliance Christmas inkpad. I used a Nestie to cut the aperture then stamped a tree and star with SU stamps. The other trees I handcut from mirri card and used Cuttlebug Swiss dots folder on one of them.
Inside I covered with HOTP from stash then added a Nestie cut PB image which is coloured with Copics. I added a sprinkling of Glamour Dust :o)

I'm branching out...

Never made anything like this before. I presume it is altered art :o)
I went to a workshop at Monk's Den in Ashby de la Zouch yesterday with very good friends. I normally work Saturdays so it was good to be able to go with them as I have been off work this week :o)
I had a really enjoyable day and this is the end result.

Distressed get well card

I made this for a distant cousin who is also a friend. She has to go into hospital tomorrow to have a tumour removed so please join me in wishing her a speedy recovery.I have used 2 new toys that I bought yesterday, namely the Xcut butterfly punch and the PB stamp coloured with Marveys. Not a copic in sight! Distressed with Tim Holtz pine needles :o)

Fab day out

No cards as I've had a fab day out. I will put my project on tomorrow when I can take it's piccy in daylight :o)
3 of us went to Monk's Den at Ashby de la Zouch this morning for a workshop. I can 't normally go as I work Saturdays, but it was the culmination of a great week off work. Spent a king's ransome in the shop too but I had been saving for this week to have a real blowout. It's a good job my week has come to an end because I was on the point of beggaring myself! What money I had left I passed on the the lovely Pauline so she can look for MS punches at the NEC next week for me :o)
We were ravenously hungry by the time we got back to Pauline's but she had the forsight to phone ahead and get the family to put jackets potatoes in the oven for us, and we polished them off with lots of cheese and lots of gusto. Pauline, you are a STAR :o)

Winter Wonderland-Victorian Christmas

Own photographs played about with in PSP then put together as a topper matted onto gold textured card from stash. I took the main photograph at Butterly Station during a Victorian weekend. I converted the topper to sepia as I thought it would be more in keeping with the theme. Added a bit of ribbon and some punched snowflakes, made my own DP and it is all one ivory linen base card :o)

My first 8x8 card

It is also my first card using my MS half daisy deep border punch and I love it :o)
The DP is doublesided so I was able to match it perfectly, a freebie from one of the kind ladies at Derby Dabblers. The gems in the centre of the daisies aren't quite so red as they look here! I heat embossed the tree and sentiment with Detail Gold powder and sprinkled a dusting around the tree :o)

Another elephant page

Oh dear, I've done it again! I made this page to replace the earlier one which was commissioned and I wanted to keep it. Well I want to keep this one as well :o)
I think I had better show the customer both and let her decide which she wants then cry when she's out of sight :o(
Oh well, I had better get cracking and make some more elephant pages just for me :o)

These are two simple cards I made using the images but I am sure there are lots of you out there who could be more imaginative and we would love to see your projects :o)

Peachy Keen #24

It's a sketch and had to have PK stamped image. Base card is white hammered covered with grey ribbed paper from the PMS. DP I made by spraying white copy paper with orange spray paint then stamped with SU stamps on the bottom border, also used MS punch on it. Sorry I can't remember the sentiment stamp maker but it might be Stampendous. Image is coloured with copics and added a bit of lace :o)

Commissioned Elephant page

Methinks I will just keep this one for my album and make another one for the customer :o)
Meet Ganesh Vijay who is now 7 months old. He was born at Twycross zoo in August last year after his mum was artificially inseminated. The Indian elephant is considered to be an endangered species so Twycross is doing it's bit to help!
I have been to see, and photograph, Ganesh Vijay 3 times now and hope to see him several times more, he is just so cute :o)
Jackie xx

Phew that was close!

My neighbour, bless her, asked for these giving m 48 hours notice and I had to go to work both days!

I am sorry to say I cannot remember at who's house I stamped the giraffe and the baby I
filched from a friend at Derby Dabblers as I had no idea what I was going to use otherwise,
thank you Sandra :o)
I printed the sentiments in MS Word and the papers are from J&P pictures Animals 1 CD. Fiskars punches and nesties also used :o)

Flower pages

No cards to show at the moment, I am working on an order for some you have seen on here for my non crafting friend :o)
In the meantime, I have been browsing my scrapbooks and thought I would like to share some pages with you all.
These two were a friendly challenge just to kickstart our flagging enthusiasm at the time and hopefully get our mojos back :o)
The challenge was 12x12, black and white with a dash of colour.
I used my own photographs, DCWV papers and cut the titles with the Cricut :o)

Monday, 1 March 2010

I said I'd never make another one of these...

...tri shutter cards but here is number three :o)
I must say they are so much easier now that I have my new Scor Pal to score and cut them!
I am entering it for the Winter Wonderland monochromatic Christmas challenge at
A DC member suggested I made one with some of my winter photographs so here it is and I must say that I am quite pleased with it :o)
The two tall photographs at the ends are part of the same one cut into strips. I had five strips so may try a triptych card with the rest.
The stamped images are all SU except the 'season's greetings' one, sorry I can't remember where that was from.
I have the day off work today so I am off to Twycross Zoo to see the baby elephant now he is 6 months old and take some more photographs :o)
